Coursework: Assignments are due Thursday and Sunday

At SNHU, online classes have no set meeting times or live lectures. Instead, you’ll complete assignments on your own time within a structured format called a weekly module — giving you the flexibility you need and predictability you can count on. You'll access modules and coursework through Brightspace, our online learning platform. You can also use the Brightspace mobile app on your phone or tablet, as long as you have a desktop or laptop as your primary device.

  • Weekly assignments may include readings and video materials, discussion posts, short papers, quizzes or group projects.
  • You’ll complete and submit assignments electronically in Brightspace.
  • In most courses, you’ll have consistent weekly deadlines on Thursday and Sunday.
  • For all courses, you’ll have access to support when you need it, including IT help, online tutoring and 24/7 library chat.

Term Structure: Take 1 or 2 courses every 8-10 weeks

Instead of fall and spring semesters, our online terms are shorter and more frequent. That way, you can apply anytime, rather than rushing — or waiting — for fall or spring enrollment. We're ready when you are!

Undergraduate Terms
8 weeks long | 6 times per year

Graduate Terms
10 weeks long | 5 times per year

Taking 1 or 2 courses per term allows you to do more or less depending on what works for you. And — unlike online colleges that have flat-rate tuition — at SNHU, if you only take one course, you only pay for one course. That means you can take your time and get your degree at a pace that works for your life and your budget.

If all that sounds a little confusing at this point, don't worry — your academic advisor will guide you through it, helping you map out your degree plan and register for classes each term.

Student Services: We’re here to support your success

Everyone at SNHU — from your advisor and instructors to our librarians and career services staff — is here to help you reach your goals. Because we’ve been offering online learning since 1995, we’ve had time to develop best-in-class online support. Whether you need help with math, want to discuss your career path or are looking for support in balancing school and life, we’ve got you.

Õ¬ÄÐƵµÀ Community: Explore, participate and connect

You’re part of a community at SNHU because we know connection is an essential part of the college experience — for online students just as much as campus students. The Office of Student Involvement works hard to develop opportunities for you to participate, despite the distance. Here are just a few of the ways you can get involved.

SNHUconnect is our exclusive online community where you can share interests, locate virtual and regional events, join online clubs and organizations, and connect with 15,000+ monthly SNHU users.

SNHU Global Days of Service is a 2-month-long community service event, where you can join alumni, students, faculty and staff in volunteer opportunities to strengthen your community, no matter where you live.

Faculty-led Programs are short-term “travel courses” where an SNHU professor acts as your tour guide. Trips range from 8-12 days and typically take place in the spring. Costs vary and all flights depart from Boston. If you thought you couldn’t study abroad as an online student, think again.

Honor societies are invitation-only student organizations that recognize your academic achievement. They include:

  • Alpha Sigma Lambda
  • Delta Mu Delta
  • Pi Lambda Theta
  • Sigma Tau Delta

Getting involved not only feeds your need to be part of a community but it’s a great way for you to “learn by doing” and gain new skills through experiential learning. While you may have opportunities for experiential learning built into your degree program, participating in activities based on your culture, career goals or other special interests can provide valuable, hands-on experience.

Graduation: Get the recognition you deserve

At SNHU, we truly believe that celebrating you, and everything you’ve achieved, is one of the most important parts of your academic journey. That's why we hold graduation ceremonies in person at the SNHU Arena near our picturesque campus in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Twice a year, online graduates travel by plane, car, bus and train to have their moment in the spotlight. It's also the perfect time to take a stroll across campus, snap a photo in front of the SNHU logo and visit the bookstore to pick up some alumni swag.

Can’t make it to New Hampshire? We still make sure you get the recognition you deserve at our virtual graduation ceremony — a 360-degree immersive experience for you and your family.
