Student Spotlight: Hassan Seales, AA in Liberal Arts Grad

Hassan Seales in a graduation cap and gown, celebrating his 2023 liberal arts associate degree from SNHUWhen Hassan Seales ’23 earned his Associate of Arts (AA) in Liberal Arts from Õ¬ÄÐƵµÀ (SNHU), he was accomplishing something incredible for both himself and his family.

As a first-generation student, Seales is not only the first in his family to earn a college degree; he’s also the first to graduate from high school. But he’s not done yet.

“This is just the beginning,” he said.

After high school, Seales searched for a college where he would feel at home. However, he said he didn't feel welcome at the schools he initially attended.

Eventually, he did some research and came across SNHU’s online program and decided to reach out.

“I gave them a call last year, and this year, I graduated with my degree,” he said.

According to Seales, attending SNHU had a positive impact on his life and his family. He learned to face and overcome obstacles without hesitation.

Seales said that his two academic advisors, Kevin Welsh and Rachel Booker, had a huge impact on his journey and his life. They provided invaluable advice, he said, that he could use throughout his journey at SNHU — and that he will continue to use their guidance in the future.

To anyone who wants to pursue a degree, Seales said, “Chase your dreams. Never give up."
