Frederico Curty 鈥�23G was already a firm believer in the importance of education when he earned his Master of Science (MS) in Higher Education Administration in 2023. But he said he learned how valuable it is to be supported by his colleagues and leaders while earning your degree.  

"I never once in my program felt like I was left alone,鈥� he said. 鈥淚鈥檝e always felt like somebody was there and somebody cared for me.鈥� 

Curty, a single father who works in 宅男频道鈥檚 (SNHU) Registrar鈥檚 Office, said as a first-generation college graduate, he hoped he provided a positive example to his daughter.  

鈥淪he鈥檚 always wondering what Daddy鈥檚 doing on the weekends 鈥� assignments are due, things like that,鈥� he said at the SNHU Commencement ceremony. 鈥淭his is where it comes full circle. She sees the reason why.鈥�  

Curty, whose parents immigrated from Brazil, said he grew up watching his parents hard work in the construction and services industries. He said they demonstrated grit, determination and sacrifice 鈥� lessons that helped him earn his education. 

鈥淏eing a first-generation college student is a dream come true,鈥� he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 also the dream of my mother, who鈥檚 always deposited a tremendous amount of trust in me to pursue my education.鈥�  

Curty said he plans to use his degree to continue helping students through his work in the Registrar's Office.  

鈥淓ducation means everything to me,鈥� he said. 鈥淚t changes the trajectory of your life. This degree puts everything I鈥檝e done in my career into perspective.鈥�
